I am a fully accredited counsellor and Psychotherapist with many years' experience. I have sat on both sides of the room, in the chair across from a counsellor with the same fear and anxiety that many people do when they take the step into therapy. Now having spent many years training and studying I work with people presenting with a variety of issues. I offer support and help people identify their inner potential and recourses. We often don’t recognise or capabilities for many reasons but I believe that everything individuals need to cope with in life lies within them, they sometimes just need help in finding it.
I work within an integrative framework believing that to understand the human experience and how each individual responds to life's issues more than one theoretical model is required. In collaboration with each individual, I use a blended approach to therapy where the client's needs and requirements direct the approaches used. Providing a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space for the client is the foundation of my therapeutic work. I offer effective psychotherapy methods to encourage individuals to adopt new attitudes and see life's situations from a healthier, stronger perspective. I offer short term solution-focused therapy or longer in-depth therapy.
The approaches I use include Integrative & Person-Centred Therapy, Gestalt and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. (CBT) with the areas I specialise in being anxiety, Stress Management, Depression, Addiction, Bereavement and Loss, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Work and Life balance.
I am a certified qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist with a BA Hons. from IICP and Hdip in Addiction and Substance misuse from MU (Maynooth University) I am a member of The Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
I have also provided counselling and mentoring to clients struggling with substance misuse in public and private settings
