Background and Experience
Hello there, my name is Denis and I am a Counsellor/Psychotherapist with the National Association for Professional Counselling and Psychotherapy (NAPCP) as a pre-accredited member. I graduated from the Irish College of Humanities and Applied Science with a Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling.
I have worked with community assistance counselling since October of 2020, and have provided help both in clinic and via online means. I am certified in Technologically Facilitated Counselling and Psychotherapy, as well as being a trained co-facilitator with Aiseiri Addiction Services. I have helped clients with a range of personal difficulties including: Grief, Anxiety, Depression, Assault, Suicidal Ideation, Relationship Problems, Anger, and Men’s Health to name a few.
My Therapeutic Style
My use of therapies are quite varied, as I try to use combinations to get the best results for my clients. I have used CBT, Cognitive Therapy, Person Centred, Humanistic, System Based, Art Therapy, and a range of psychoanalytical practices. With this variety of therapies I’m sure we can find one that works best for you.
Expectations
When working with me, you can expect an honest and fulfilling relationship. I will help you face the harder questions and explore the deeper feelings as necessary, all with the goal of making you independent and confident in your life after counselling. I try to recommend exercises and tasks you can practice on how to best process your troubles in day to day life, so that you can manage them better and eventually not need therapeutic assistance.
For this to work, the therapeutic relationship requires trust and honesty about your feelings. Communication will be key to your progress and this will ensure the fastest growth in you as a person. You will always be safe to voice your concerns and I will always aim to get you the best result on your journey through the counselling process.
